Through our Next Gen Trad>>> initiative we create opportunities for youth development through traditional arts by offering performances, lessons and mentorships, while encouraging civic engagement and community leadership.
Future Leaders
Through a progressive series of personal leadership and youth development activities and experiences, we aim to establish strong intergenerational relationships, peer-to-peer mentoring, and skill building, such as conflict resolution and self-advocacy, that prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
Kentucky Old-Time Music, Inc. supports our young people’s deep intellectual development and healthy identity formation as active learners within their communities, and as engaged citizens in the broader world. We aim to amplify young people’s voices, agency, conscience, and intellect to create a more equitable, just, and sustainable world. We honor and nurture young people’s natural curiosity and innate desire to learn, fostering internal motivation and the discovery of passion and purpose. Through Next Gen Trad, we work to respond to the developmental needs of young people, and focus on their social, emotional, intellectual, and cultural development through engagement with traditional arts.
