Besides a gathering place for community residents, a weekly quilting club meets every Wednesday morning and the famous Carcassonne Square Dance occurs every second Saturday of the month from April-Nov.. It features the best old-time musicians Kentucky has to offer as well as food and hospitality for attendees learning and performing traditional square dance. Carcassonne is Kentucky’s longest continuous community dance.

Hosted by the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music at MSU, the Morehead Community Square Dance features live old-time music at the beautiful and historic Rowan County Art Center in downtown Morehead, KY. Morehead community square dances are always family and beginner friendly. Bring a friend but you certainly don’t have to come with a partner. In fact, lots of folks come on their own and make new friends throughout the evening as folks are encouraged to change partners often. Square dancing is low-impact and the caller will tell you everything you need to know.
