Heirloom Traditional Arts supports Kentucky youth’s deep intellectual development and healthy identity formation as active learners within their communities, and as engaged citizens in the broader world. We aim to amplify young people’s voices, agency, conscience and intellect to nurture their natural curiosity and innate desire to learn, fostering internal motivation and the discovery of passion and purpose. Through Next Gen>>>, we focus on Kentucky youth’s social, emotional, intellectual and cultural development through engagement with traditional arts.

Youth Engagement

Through our Nex Gen>>> initiative we create opportunities for youth development through traditional arts by offering performances, lessons and mentorships, while encouraging civic engagement and community leadership.

Future Leaders

Through a progressive series of personal leadership and youth development activities and experiences, we aim to establish strong intergenerational relationships, peer-to-peer mentoring, and skill building, such as conflict resolution and self-advocacy, that prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
